[ as nico finally finds his boyfriend in the kitchen, lured by the scent of melted butter and cooking eggs, he pauses on the threshold, taking a moment to simply take in the sight of will solace. he remembers the first day he really, truly paid attention to the son of apollo. atop halfblood hill, on the eve of battle, all but stumbling into a will who was decked in black fatigues and wore black face makeup. at the time, it had been the most ridiculous thing he'd ever seen but thinking back on it now, nico finds himself smirking just a little, affection swelling in his chest. from that point on, will has been both a thorn in his side and one of the best things to happen to him. and waking up to find the gifts given to him on a day he normally hates... it's enough to make him feel as if he's floating on sunshine.
which is why there's almost a bounce in his step as he crosses into the kitchen, hands in his pockets as he prepares to pull out the gift he's gotten for will. ]
You know, for someone who's a year-round camper, I'm surprised you actually know how to cook.
[ the smirk lingers on his lips as he draws closer, slipping one arm around will's waist as his other hand slides a small black box towards him. inside, on a black, velvet cushion is a stygian iron ring. ]
Valentine's Day isn't really... my thing, but- [ a shrug. ] And it's not a big deal either. I'll understand if you're not into it.
[Will hears someone walk in and grins after he turns and sees it's Nico.] I didn't always live at camp, you know. Just don't expect me to make any five star meals. I know how to make basic stuff but nothing fancy. You hungry? You can have this one, it's done. [He flips the omelette onto a plate that's nearby then pauses for a moment, setting the spatula down before he starts making another one when Nico pushes the box towards him.
His eyes are alight with curiosity as he presses a kiss to Nico's cheek before picking it up.] It's okay, I wasn't expecting anything. I know how you feel about Cupid.
[He opens the box, eyes widening a little when he sees once inside. Then his face lights up with another smile and he gives Nico a kiss on the lips this time.] Thank you, it's great.
[And he's going to take his camp necklace off so he can slip it right on there, not wanting to risk it falling off his hand.]
[ trying to keep from grinning now, much less blushing, he shrugs. he knows how much meaning there is in putting something on a camp necklace. those beads each standing for something that happened during the summer it was made. nico knows every single bead on will's necklace, having played with them before while sharing a bed with him. they're different from the one on his own; percy couldn't recreate all the beads of the past. but it doesn't because they match in spirit. even more so with the stygian iron ring now hanging from will's necklace.
nico slowly reaches up once the ring is set in place. his fingers brush against the the ring and then settle on will's shoulders to wrap around his boyfriend's neck. with a step closer to the son of apollo, he brings their foreheads together and allows one corner of his lips to curl. ]
I'll eat just about anything you make. Unless it's burned. [ scrunches his nose. ] Thanks for the gifts.
[Nico can't see it, but a gentle, fond expression slips onto his face when their foreheads touch and he closes his eyes for a moment to soak in this feeling. He loves this demigod who's standing right in front of him.]
Good to know. [His voice is softer and lighter now, fondness clear in his tone too.] Lucky for you it's been a long time since I burned something. Usually it's only if I get distracted and forget about it.
You're welcome - hope you liked them. [And then his mouth curls up into a teasing smirk.] The cookies weren't too burnt, were they? [They weren't burned at all but he can't resist teasing.]
[ for the tease, will gets his lips nipped at, gently but not without heat. nico holds his gaze for a few seconds longer and then slips away to grab a fork. ]
Burned to a crisp. Every single one of them. [ he shoots will a teasing glance of his own before beginning to shovel the breakfast will's made into his mouth. as he continues, he speaks with his mouth full. ] Could possibly poison someone even. I'll have to eat them all to protect innocent bystanders.
[Will laughs brightly, turning to make another omelette for himself.] Well, if you might get poisoned, I made them so it's only fair I take the fall with you. [AKA he hopes you'll share at least a few, di Angelo, and not eat them all in one go.]
[ rolling his eyes and swallowing the morsel in his mouth, he reaches out again, this time to pull will into a kiss. he makes sure it's longer this time, a deeper kiss. one that he draws out because he wants nothing more at the moment than to kiss his amazing, dorky, nerdy boyfriend. ]
[Will stops and makes a muffled noise of surprise when he's pulled in for a kiss, but it turns into a noise of content as he closes his eyes to savor it. He wishes he could pull Nico in closer, but he has a feeling his boyfriend wouldn't appreciate him getting egg all over his clothes.]
[ will certainly makes an accurate assumption, which means that eventually they have to part. nico doesn't mind so much. he'll have his chance to kiss will more later. for now, it's time to chow down and he digs in with relish. ]
I have to drop off some presents for friends but other than that, I'm pretty much free today. You?
[He goes back to making an omelette for himself, grinning contently now.] I don't have any plans.... besides a picnic lunch with my boyfriend, if he's up for it.
[ rounding will so that he can push up on his toes and hook his chin on his boyfriend's shoulder. his arms wrap around will's waist as he makes a low noise of approval. ]
Gods, you nerd. [ laughs, pressing his forehead against will's shoulder. ] You know... we can actually go on dates here without worrying about the harpies or curfew.
